Kim Badawi is a freelance photographer from New York City of Egyptian, French and Slovenian background. I mention his background because he has been involved in quite a broad range of photojournalism projects some including topics with the Arab world and its integration with American culture, like “The rise of the American muslin punk“. But the project that got my attention was his recent work Gay-Trans-Faerie night-Life in New York (sorry that the watermarks are so annoying, why putting watermarks to a small image?). The images are certainly graphic and powerful.
Kim Badawi has been selected to be part of the 25 Under 25: up-and-coming American photographers that will be published in spring 2008 by the Center for Documentary Studies. He also won the NLGJA excellence in photojournalism award in 2006 (NLGJA is the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association).
